The City of Richmond is holding a series of events to celebrate Asian Heritage Month.

Weatherhood forecast expects the sunny weather to hold up over the weekend, and there's a wide range of activities to check out. From Mother's Day celebrations to activities highlighting the city's diverse Asian cultures, here are some events to kickstart your weekend:

1. Explore Richmond's diversity throughout Asian Heritage Month activities

It's Asian Heritage Month and the city is putting up a series of events to celebrate the city's diverse Asian cultures. This weekend, Richmond Public Library is hosting the unveiling of the Suzhou Alley Women's Mural, in addition to other ongoing exhibitions around the city.

Date and Time: The Suzhou Alley Women's Mural unveiling is taking place on May 11, 2024 (2 p.m.)

2. Celebrate Mother's Day at Lansdowne Centre

Lansdowne Centre is holding a Mother's Day celebration on Sunday. Community members will get to check out a pop-up flower shop and an artisan market throughout the weekend, as well as live music and a free photo booth on May 12.

3. Celebrate the Buddha's birthday and Mother's Day, and get your pet blessed, at a local temple

Lingyen Mountain Temple is holding a huge celebration this weekend for the Buddha's birthday as well as Mother's Day. On Saturday, a refuge taking ceremony will be held for pets and all are welcome to attend online or in person. A bathing the Buddha ceremony and a charity bazaar will be held on Sunday, and community members can also check out a calligraphy exhibition on site.

4. Watch the French GP with fellow enthusiasts

Ducati Richmond is back with another MotoGP viewing party on Sunday. Community members are invited to watch the French GP together on Sunday and light beverages and snacks will be served. RSVP via Facebook.

5. Check out Tom Lee Music Richmond's open house

Tom Lee Music Richmond is holding an open house on Saturday alongside its piano sale and each family will get a free gift bag. Community members can enjoy live music performances, games and snacks and enter a prize draw to win a $16,700 Steinway Boston Upright Piano.
