Photos: Richmond scout group help renew community garden

Urban Bounty is preparing the Paulik Park garden for spring.

More than 50 young people from a Richmond scout group were pulling weeds and cleaning up a community garden site on Sunday.

The Richmond 28th Scout Group visited Urban Bounty's forest garden at Paulik Park to prepare the area for spring.

Eli Chan, youth leader of the Richmond 28th Scout Group, explained the rain-or-shine event was part of the scout's community service project and was a "perfect time" as Urban Bounty needed a hand in the garden.

"(Urban Bounty) hopes to rebuild the garden so they can grow some native plant species and start anew with the spring season coming up," said Chan.

Urban Bounty provided supplies and tools for the scouts to start pulling weeds that had taken over the area.

The group also worked together to move a big pile of wood chips to the garden.
