The third Green New Deal for Steveston town hall meeting will take place this Sunday, July 28 at 2:30 p.m.

This time, the meeting will take place outdoors, outside The Beat Merchant record store at 12240 Second Ave.

Steveston artist and writer Erika Koenig-Workman and Beat Merchant owner Frankie Neilson have organized the two-hour town hall, as they attempt to keep the Green New Deal (GND) momentum moving forward.

The meeting will be the third of its kind for the local movement, which kicked off in the spring in Koenig-Workman’s kitchen with a goal of hosting five such meetings.

“Local residents, tourists, shoppers and politicians are invited to hear what Canadians want included in their vision for ‘The Pact for a Green New Deal,’” said Koenig-Workman.

“In less than three weeks, local GND volunteers will engage people of Richmond and Steveston to talk about climate justice, jobs and the economy.”

As well as the initial meeting in Koenig-Workman’s kitchen, the group spread its wings to host a town hall at the City Centre Community Centre last month.
