All-you-can-eat buffets are growing in popularity.

All-you-can-eat restaurants are a growing trend in Richmond - and beyond. But are they really a good deal?

The Richmond News recently reported on this trend that has been growing after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The News polled 738 readers and asked the question: What do you think about all-you-can-eat restaurants?

The poll results are from April 12 to May 3.

Of the 738 votes, we can determine that 282 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

Good deal 20.21% local, 23.44% total
Too expensive 21.28% local, 18.16% total
I have a small appetite, not worth 47.87% local, 47.29% total
Never tried 10.64% local, 11.11% total

Jeff Tang, co-owner of K-Squared Mansion, said the restaurant made the transition to an all-you-can-eat model post-pandemic after seeing local customers consuming less.

“With a slowing economy and high interest rates, people have less money in their pockets," said Tang.

"So we decided to offer the all-you-can-eat lunch so they can have nice Northeast Chinese food, eat as much as they need, at an affordable price.”

Results are based on an online study of adult Richmond News readers that are located in the Lower Mainland. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 3.6%, 19 times out of 20.

Richmond News uses a variety of techniques to capture data, detect and prevent fraudulent votes, detect and prevent robots, and filter out non-local and duplicate votes.
