A fire on the north end of a railway swing bridge beside the Oak Street Bridge sent thick, black smoke into blue skies closing the span during the rush hour commute Wednesday evening.
Due to poor visibility on the bridge deck, traffic in and out of Richmond using the Oak Street Bridge was temporarily halted as fire crews and a boat fought the flames.
No word yet on the cause.
