The COVID-19 outbreak at Richmond Hospital has affected six people so far, four patients and two staff members, according to the Ministry of Health.
That is one more than reported last week. The outbreak was declared on May 2.
The number of cases as reported by the ministry is a cumulative number and some of those infected might have already recovered, explained a ministry spokesperson.
Dr. Meena Dawar told the Richmond News last week that the cases are in the medical ward and not the surgical ward of the hospital, and, therefore, she didn’t expect it to delay the resumption of elective surgeries.
Province-wide, 30,000 elective surgeries were cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
