Plumes of black smoke can be seen rising from afar on Mitchell Island.
Richmond Fire-Rescue responded to a call about a fire in central Mitchell Island around 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 9.
A car had caught on fire inside an auto shop, and the blaze spread to the second floor of the office space, said Clay Adams, City of Richmond spokesperson.
“The Richmond Fire-Rescue responded quickly to the fire and contained it before spreading anywhere else,” said Adams.
No injuries were reported, but significant damage was done to the building.
