But the poll shows a larger spread between Michelle Mollineaux, running in the provincial election for the BC Conservatives, and BC NDP candidate and incumbent MLA Kelly Greene.

The poll shows Yao, also the incumbent MLA, and Chan are separated by just 0.1 per cent, whereas Mollineaux is five per cent ahead of Greene.

Greene has the support of 42.7 per cent of those polled while Mollineaux's support was polled at 47.9 per cent.

Yao has 44.4 per cent support, and Chan has 44.5 per cent, according to the poll.

Greene, meanwhile, has the support of 57.8 per cent of those aged 50 to 64, whereas Mollineaux would capture 27 per cent of these voters' ballots, according to the poll.

Independents' support lags behind party candidates

Two former BC United candidates, who weren't chosen as Conservative candidates when the former folded its campaign in late August, are trailing behind the dominant parties.

The Green candidate in Richmond-Steveston, Elodie Vaudandaine, had the support of 1.1 per cent of those polled.

In Richmond-Steveston, 5.6 per cent of those polled were still undecided, whereas, in Richmond Centre, this number was 2.8 per cent.

The Richmond Centre poll, conducted between Oct. 9 and 13, has a margin of error of +/- 6.7 per cent with 95 per cent confidence. The Richmond-Steveston poll, conducted between Oct. 9 and 12, has a margin of error of +/- 5.9 per cent with 95 per cent confidence.
