Why are you running for federal office?

Richmond Centre—Marpole is more than where I live—it’s home. I’ve worked hard to bring over $500 million in federal investments to support housing, health care, seniors, jobs and safer communities. I’m running to keep building on this progress. Our community deserves a strong voice in Ottawa—someone who listens and delivers results. There’s more work ahead, and I’m committed to ensuring Richmond Centre—Marpole remains inclusive, vibrant and prepared for the future.

What is your professional background?

Before politics, I worked in real estate, where I gained a deep understanding of housing issues facing seniors and families. I also volunteered with local non-profits, learning directly about the needs of our community. These experiences shaped how I serve in Parliament—always grounded in listening, advocacy and practical solutions for Richmond Centre—Marpole, especially on issues like affordable housing, support for small businesses, and youth and senior services.

If elected, how will you ensure you are available to your constituents?

Representing Richmond Centre-Marpole means being present, accessible and accountable to the people I serve. I will continue to be a visible and active voice in the community—regularly attending events, visiting neighbourhoods and connecting with residents from all walks of life. I strongly believe that good representation begins with listening—and I will always make time to listen and act on the feedback of those I represent.

What are your top three campaign promises?

My top three campaign promises are to prioritize public safety, tackle homelessness and address drug challenges by investing in prevention, housing and mental health services. I will strengthen economic growth by supporting small businesses, empowering new immigrants and ensuring seniors and families have access to essential resources. Most importantly, I will ensure community voices are heard in Ottawa by maintaining strong local connections and advocating for inclusive, responsive federal policies that reflect the real needs of Richmond Centre-Marpole.

How will you and your party approach the changing relationship with the U.S.?

Our Liberal Party of Canada will protect Canada’s interests while working constructively with the United States on shared challenges. This includes advocating for fair trade deals, defending economic sovereignty and strengthening collaboration on climate change and security. Our approach is rooted in diplomacy and mutual respect, but we will stand firm when Canada’s independence or values are at stake.

With threatened annexation from the United States, do you and your party support an increase in defence spending?

Yes. A strong national defence is essential to maintaining Canadian sovereignty and global security. Our Liberal Party is committed to responsibly taking a measured and responsible approach to increasing defence spending, ensuring our military is well-equipped, modernized and supported to respond to emerging global threats.

Investments will focus on personnel, equipment, cybersecurity and coordination with allies, while ensuring spending is accountable and aligned with long-term national interests.

How will you support Richmond businesses and citizens in the face of uncertain economic times?

I will continue targeted support for small businesses, workers and families to maintain stability and encourage local growth. By investing in infrastructure, cutting red tape and promoting training opportunities, we’ll create jobs and boost the local economy. We’ll also ensure that newcomers, seniors and entrepreneurs have the support they need to thrive.

Given the housing crisis, what should be done to get homes built faster?

To speed up housing construction, we’ve partnered with municipality and community partners through programs like the Housing Accelerator Fund, which secured $35.9 million for Richmond and $114 million for Vancouver. These fundings help streamline permits and support faster development. We’ll keep removing red tape, offering incentives to build affordable homes and supporting zoning changes—ensuring more housing options for families, seniors and newcomers.

How will your party support renters?

Our Liberal Party will continue to take concrete steps to address the housing shortage and improve affordability for renters. We will eliminate the GST on new capital investments in affordable rental housing by increasing the residential rental property rebate to 100 per cent, making it more viable for developers to build purpose-built rental homes.

These measures are designed to increase supply and reduce financial barriers, helping more Canadians access stable, affordable rental options.

How will you and your party improve income support for seniors and people with disabilities?

I’ve helped secure over $450,000 in funding for local senior programs through the New Horizons for Seniors Program. We’ll further support seniors by reducing the RRIF minimum withdrawal by 25 per cent for one year and increasing the GIS by five per cent, giving low-income seniors up to $652 in additional tax-free support. We’re committed to enhancing dignity, security and independence for both seniors and people with disabilities.

Canada's overdose epidemic is a national crisis. What will you and your party do about Canada’s overdose crisis?

We’re taking a comprehensive approach that balances prevention, treatment and enforcement. This includes investing in local treatment programs, expanding education and supporting outreach services. On enforcement, we’re working with CBSA and international partners—like the 97-per-cent reduction in fentanyl seizures in January 2025—to keep illegal drugs off our streets. We’ll keep partnering with provinces and cities to protect vulnerable people and save lives.

How will your party improve the health-care system and support provinces to bring in more family doctors?

We’ll continue supporting BC Health through the Canada Health Transfer while keep rolling out national plans like dental care and pharmacare. To get more doctors into communities, we will speed up credential recognition for internationally trained doctors and nurses, train, recruit and retain more family doctors and health care professionals, expand medical residency opportunities and ensure that health-care delivery remains public, accessible and responsive to the needs of British Columbians.
