Richmond voters can hear from candidates running in the upcoming federal election on Thursday, April 17.
Richmond Centre for Disability and Richmond Poverty Reduction Coalition are combining forces to ask candidates questions on social policy issues at the Minoru Centre for Active Living.
So far, the two major parties have announced their candidates.
Incumbent Liberal members of Parliament Wilson Miao and Parm Bains are running for re-election.
Zach Segal is the Conservative candidate challenging Bains in the newly named Richmond East-Steveston riding.
Richmond city Coun. Chak Au is the Conservative candidate in the newly reconfigured riding of Richmond Centre-Marpole.
The NDP has only announced one candidate so far in Richmond – Martin Li is their candidate in Richmond Centre-Marpole.
The Green Party of Canada has candidates in both ridings: Steven Ji is running in Richmond East-Steveston and Michael Sisler is running in Richmond Centre-Marpole.
Candidates have to register with Elections Canada by April 7, and the final list of candidates will be published on April 9.
The federal election will take place on Monday, April 28.
Advance polling takes place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 18, Saturday, April 19, Sunday, April 20 and Monday, April 21.
Voters should cast their ballots at their assigned polling station on advance voting days.
Registered voters should receive a voter information card in the mail with information where to vote in advance polls.
If the information on the card is incorrect or you didn’t receive one, click here to check your registration, register or update address information. Voters can also call Elections Canada at 1-800-463-6868 or 1-800-361-8935 (TTY) for help.
Voters can also register when they go to vote. To find your election day or advance polling station, use the online Voter Information Service.
