The Gateway Theatre presents: Moliere's Don Juan

An all new adaptation in association with Blackbird Theatre. Don Juan is a beguiling rogue and prodigious womanizer who rejects conventional morality, defying God, heaven and hell.

His servant Sganarelle is appalled by his master's behaviour; their arguments are a feast of wit. Everyone wants to reform the Don, but two sword fights and three amorous adventures later, it seems his rebel spirit will carry him through in the end. But will it? Molière's most scandalous comedy gets an all-new treatment by Blackbird Theatre. Directed by John Wright. Tickets for adults are $47-$48 and students $30.

The Richmond Orchestra features violinist Kenny Wong performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. Also on the program is Beethoven's Symphony 4. Community performance partner for this event is the Richmond Food Bank. Show begins at 7: 30 p.m.

Richmond Art Gallery presents: Materially speaking

Opening reception: Free admission, Saturday, April 13, 3 - 5 p.m.

Artists Jen Aitken, Lou Lynn, Brendan Satish Lee and Julie York in an increasingly mechanized and digitized world that values speed and economical production of goods.

A new generation of artists are returning to craft methodologies as a means of re-invigorating craft while bringing an intellectual rigour to the objects they make.

The four artists presented in Materially speaking, explore diverse notions of hybridity, identity, the body and perception.

Steveston Folk Guild at the Britannia Heritage Shipyard presents: Tom Rawson

Seattle based folksinger and storyteller Tom Rawson Head returns to SFG. Tom is a veteran of the folk festival circuit, and travels all over the Northwest with his humorous stories, user friendly songs.

His acoustic folk philosophy is guaranteed to leave you smiling. Armed with long-necked banjo and other weapons of mass delight, Tom will have you singing along in no time. Tune up your vocal chords; you'll need 'em, and you won't be disappointed. Be prepared for a good time.

Richmond Art Gallery "Creative Practice" Adult Art Series

An opportunity to learn about how to explore the creativity in everyday life. Class will be taught by the Emily Carr University instructor, Vjeko Sager. Art is fun.

Come play, and discover. The course is designed for everyone, especially for newcomers and immigrants who are interested in learning art and to explore the creativity in their daily life. At the end of the workshop the student could gain courage, new perspective and apply the knowledge to their new journey in Canada. In addition the student will learn art related vocabulary and developed the ability to communicate their ideas.
