Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has posted new COVID-19 exposure warnings for six Richmond schools.

McNeely elementary, Kingswood elementary, R.C. Palmer secondary, H.J. Cambie secondary, Richmond secondary and Matthew McNair secondary have all been added to the health authority’s online list of school exposures.

Potential exposure to the virus occurred as follows:

  • McNeely elementary (Feb. 16 to 19 and Feb. 22 to 24)
  • Kingswood elementary (Feb. 22)
  • R.C. Palmer secondary (Feb. 22 to 23)
  • H.J. Cambie secondary (Feb. 19)
  • Richmond secondary (Feb. 17 to 19 and Feb. 22 to 24)
  • Matthew McNair (Feb. 24)

A school exposure occurs when someone with the coronavirus was present in the school during their infectious period, according to VCH.

The health authority reported on its website that it has “not recorded a significant increase in COVID-19 cases among school-aged children relative to other groups” since schools reopened in September 2020.

“Evidence shows children are less likely to get infected with COVID-19, and less likely to experience severe symptoms if infected,” reads the website.
