No new cases were reported at a Richmond care home with an active COVID-19 outbreak over the past week (Jan. 27 to Feb. 2), however, four more residents have died, according to the latest data from B.C.’s Ministry of Health.
In total, 17 residents at Minoru Residence have died from the virus since an outbreak was first declared at the 250-bed facility about six weeks ago.
On Thursday (Feb. 4), the ministry released its latest weekly report on COVID-19 cases and deaths in individual long-term care home outbreaks in B.C. Data in the report is current as of 10 a.m. on Feb. 2.
Since Dec. 21, 77 people have been infected with the virus, including 66 residents and 11 staff. There have been no new cases since the previous week’s report.
An outbreak is considered over after two full incubation periods – about 28 days – have passed without any new cases, according to the report.
The outbreak began in the 1 East unit of the facility near Minoru Boulevard and Westminster Highway on Dec. 21. On Dec. 27, an outbreak was declared in the 3 West unit and, on Dec. 31, the entire facility was placed under outbreak protocol.
