A staff member at Safeway in Richmond has tested positive for COVID-19.
Sobey’s Inc., the chain’s parent company, posted on its website that an employee at the Seafair Safeway, at 8671 No. 1 Rd. near Francis Road, tested positive for the virus.
The last day the employee worked was Dec. 15.
Sobeys maintains a COVID-19 tracker on its corporate website for cases in its stores.
“Out of respect for our teammates and their confidentiality, we will never release any personal information about our people,” the website reads.
“We will always do everything we can to support our teammates and ensure their safety. Where required, we will communicate with customers who have shopped in the impacted location, with store signage, outlining our steps to manage the situation.”
