Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is expecting heavy traffic congestion to and from Sea Island on Friday, Nov. 29 and throughout the weekend due to the annual Black Friday sales events at the nearby McArthurGlen Designer Outlet.
Those flying from YVR or picking someone up from the airport are encouraged to take the Canada Line. For those who must drive to the airport, YVR is urging people to reserve extra time.
Black Friday shoppers are advised to take the Canada Line as McArthurGlen is only steps away from Canada Line’s Templeton Station. For those who must drive, there may be delays accessing the centre.
YVR and McArthurGlen are working with RCMP traffic enforcement, traffic management personnel and the Sea Island community to plan for more vehicles and foot traffic.
The following measures will be in place from Friday, Nov. 26 - Monday, Dec. 1:
Increased on-site traffic controllers and RCMP traffic control officers.
Additional parking in the gravel lot at the rear of McArthurGlen and the Templeton Main Employee Lot.
Extended shopping hours (8 a.m. - 9 p.m.) throughout the weekend to offer ample time for visitors to shop at McArthurGlen when it is most convenient.
All road users are encouraged to follow directions from traffic personnel and posted signs.
Passengers are encouraged to check flight status with their airline and monitor traffic reports for the most up-to-date information on the roads.
Information will continue to be available at YVR.ca and on X: @yvrairport @yvraeroport.
