Kelly Greene was born in Richmond and has lived here for 27 years. She and her husband are raising three children and they enjoy Steveston’s welcoming and diverse community.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UBC. She has worked for top tier accounting and banking companies, as well as led a team at a local Steveston business.
Greene has also been a public education advocate and has helped spearhead parent and community actions to protest devastating cuts to public education funding, which is a crucial investment in British Columbia’s future social and economic wellbeing.
Question: If you were premier for a day, what two pieces of legislation would you enact?
I would enact legislation that bans corporate, union, and non–B.C. origin donations, and cap the maximum allowable personal donation. Our representatives should be representing the interests of British Columbians, not the interests of large donors. I would also enact legislation to create $10/day childcare. Available and affordable childcare is shown to have a positive effect on GDP, as well as generating positive revenue to the province. Further it relieves the crushing burden of childcare costs for young families, and also grandparents who are trying to help in any way they can.
