A new restaurant highlighting affordable, fine-dining food has opened in Richmond.

Hestia Kitchen and Lab has taken over the former After Party Club's spot 4351 No. 3 Rd.

The eatery first opened in winter of 2021 in Kitsilano as a delivery-only service and slowly grew to a dine-in restaurant in the fall of 2023.

Hestia Kitchen and Lab was founded by "individuals with backgrounds in physics" who like to experiment and test new recipes, according to the restaurant's website.

The "lab" portion of the restaurant is a program allowing patrons to take part in menu testing "at a break-even cost" to have them share their ideas and thoughts on dishes for upcoming menus.

The Richmond location's menu includes dishes like abalone risotto, foie gras burger, scallop risotto, steak and bone marrow rice bowls, truffle mushroom linguini and chicken omurice.

The Richmond location also has a bar serving beer, cocktails and wines.

Hestia Kitchen and Bar is currently in its soft opening phase and is open from 5 to 10 p.m.

The restaurant will have a grand opening on Aug. 16 and its hours will be Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday until 1 a.m.
