Global Chinese mango drink chain opening second North American location in Richmond

Gifts, buy-one-get-one drinks for soft opening and grand opening this month.

Richmond's bubble tea scene is changing, particularly in a strip mall known for its many bubble tea shops.

Shanghai-based Sweet 7 is opening its second North America store this week in Richmond's Union Shopping Centre at 1131-8328 Capstan Way. The new store has taken over the former location of Yi Fang.

The global tea drink brand, known for its mango beverages, uses "fresh mango and fruit tea brewing techniques" and does not use any artificial flavouring to make its drinks, according to the brand's Canadian website.

Its menu features a variety of mango drinks, including its signature mango pomelo sago, mango green tea with jelly, mango milkshake and mango yogurt flavoured drink.

Other options include jasmine milk tea, strawberry matcha milk tea, brown sugar pearl smoothie, and fruit teas.

Sweet 7 started as a small dessert shop in 2006 and has since expanded to more than 1,500 stores around the world. It opened its first Canadian store in Vancouver last year.

To celebrate its soft opening in Richmond, Sweet 7 is offering several fun promos and giveaways between March 6 and 12.

For its grand opening on Thursday, March 13, from 11:30 a.m. to closing, there will be a buy-one-get-one free deal on Sweet 7's signature mango pomelo sago, coconut mango pomelo sago, cheesy mango sago or its new mango pomelo sago with jasmine jelly drinks.

Not only that, the store is also giving away gifts to its first 100 customers.

"We’ve been so fortunate and grateful to see long-time and new fans of Sweet 7 alike show up and support our first location in Vancouver and can’t wait to open the doors on our Richmond store,” said Max Wang, who co-owns of the Richmond Sweet 7 location with Kevin Lee.

“We look forward to continuing showcasing the full range of flavours that have made Sweet 7 such a favourite around the world.”
