New Japanese sushi restaurant enters Steveston's food scene

From inari sushi to rice bowls, the menu has something for everyone.

A new Japanese restaurant specializing in inari sushi has opened in Richmond's Steveston neighbourhood.

Okome, located inside Minato Village on No. 1 Road and Steveston Highway, soft opened on July 2.

The restaurant serves inari sushi, which is vinegared rice stuffed inside sweet and salty, deep-fried tofu pockets, topped with raw or cooked fish.

Its extensive menu features 26 different types of inari sushi and other traditional Japanese offerings such as salads, torched sushi, sashimi, donburi (rice bowls), udon, and build-your-own poke bowls.

They also offer drinks including smoothies, matcha and black sesame lattes, and fruit teas.

Okome is open every day from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at #150 - 11099 No. 1 Rd. for dine-in or takeout.
