New restaurant brings Sichuan flavours to Richmond

Richmond's 'food street' has a new restaurant that originated in Beijing.

A new Sichuan cuisine restaurant recently opened at 8391 Alexandra Rd., in the former TengYuan Tofu location.

HuDa originated in Beijing and operates a chain of restaurants, featuring innovative Sichuan flavours and seafood.

The new location, on Richmond's "food street" Alexandra Road, is the first HuDa restaurant in the Lower Mainland.

Their menu offers items such as spicy crayfish, sweet and numbing fatty clams, sauteed bullfrog, dry pot prawn, dry pot duck heads and spicy pig trotters.

“Our seafood is imported from the U.S. to Richmond and uses our unique marinade,” explained Fugui Wang, a staff member at HuDa.

The restaurant features 10 tables with an estimated capacity of 50 customers.

HuDa’s main focus is to serve late-night meals. On the weekend, they open at noon.
