A hidden restaurant in Richmond featuring French cuisine with an Asian twist has announced it's impending closure in May.

Missing Chopsticks opened in Spring 2023 in a 1,400-square-foot, two-floor industrial space near the Richmond Auto Mall.

An Instagram post on Tuesday morning, April 8, stated the restaurant's last day will be May 4. Its closure is due to Missing Chopsticks' Chef Toby's departure due to family reasons. Additionally, they haven't found "the right candidate to pass the torch to."

"We've had the honour of feeding your birthdays, your date nights, your anniversaries, your firsts and your goodbyes," reads Missing Chopsticks' Instagram post.

"We’ve had the honour of being trusted with your stories, while sharing ours through every bite."

Missing Chopsticks is already serving its final menu: "Taste of Home." It's described as a "love letter to where it all began."

"To our peers, thank you for inspiring us and pushing the scene forward.

"To our guests, thank you for giving this radical concept a try and (creating) lasting memories together. We have had the blessing to now call some of you our dear friends and we are thankful for that."

The French-Asian fusion restaurant was started by three friends to serve "meals worthy of Michelin stars" based on reimagined Chinese comfort dishes from their childhood.
