Vancouver-based Malaysian restaurant quietly pulls out of Richmond

Known for its Malaysian street food offerings, the restaurant closed its Richmond location this week.

A Vancouver Malaysian restaurant has closed down its Richmond outpost after one year.

In a sign displayed in its No. 3 Road location, Malaysia Street announced it would move back to its original Vancouver location and cease operations in Richmond after July 15.

The Richmond News was informed that the business had already moved out when it visited the store on July 15.

Malaysia Street, known for its selection of Malaysian street food, desserts and drinks such as Malaysian milk tea served in plastic bags and sizzling chai, expanded to Richmond in early 2023.

It shared a storefront with Chirpyhut Fried Chicken at 3471 No. 3 Road, across from Canadian Tire and the upcoming Capstan Canada Line station.

"Thank you for your great support in the past years and looking forward to see you at our main branch," reads the sign.
