A woman has been charged with second-degree murder after a victim has died in the hospital.

Jennifer Kipp was initially charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.

On Sept. 8, Surrey RCMP were called to a report of a pedestrian struck at 2:16 a.m. near 108 Avenue and King George Boulevard.

Police found a woman with stab wounds and confirmed she had not been struck by a vehicle.

The woman was transported to the hospital and died on Sept. 13.

"The family of the victim has been notified and is being supported,” says Surrey RCMP media relations officer Sgt. Tammy Lobb. "Surrey RCMP expresses our deepest condolences to the family."

Investigators believe the stabbing was a targeted incident.

Kipp is in custody awaiting a possible bail hearing in Supreme Court.

On Oct. 3, Kipp was charged with second-degree murder.
