Metro Vancouver weather: Temps to soar up to 24 C before shift to showers

Temperatures are expected to climb to the mid-20s this week.

The Metro Vancouver seven-day weather forecast includes several days of sunshine before showers are expected to roll into the region. 

For Monday, April 21, the Downtown Centre Weatherhood station shows a high of 12 C and a low of 6 with a mix of sun and cloud. Tuesday's forecast shows a similar trend, with a mix of sun and cloud, a daytime high of 13 C and an overnight low of 6 C. Despite these temperatures feeling pleasant, they are slightly below Environment Canada's seasonal daytime average of 15 C. 

Temperatures are expected to rise on Wednesday, with a high of 16 C and clear skies. Thursday is likely to be the warmest day of the week, reaching a high of 21 C. 

Other parts of the Lower Mainland are expected to see similar weather, although temperatures vary. For instance, Surrey's White Rock area is expected to see slightly cooler temperatures, with Monday's daytime high expected to reach 11 C and Thursday's to reach 20 C. Richmond's Terra Nova area is also expected to reach a daytime high of 11 C on Monday, although it isn't expected to break the teens for its Thursday high (19 C).

On the other end of the spectrum, the Burnaby West neighbourhood is expected to see temperatures kick off the week on Monday at 15 C and soar up to 24 C by Thursday.

The Fraser Valley is also expected to enjoy toasty temperatures on Thursday, with Abbotsford's station showing a high of 23 C and Chilliwack's showing a high of 24 C.

The sun isn't expected to keep shining into the weekend in the seven-day forecast. 

Friday's forecast includes the chance of showers across the region, with the downtown area expected to receive trace amounts of precipitation (under 1 mm). However, temperatures are expected to be mild, reaching a high of 16. 

The weather is expected to be wetter on the weekend, with a 68 per cent chance of showers on Saturday and up to 3 mm precipitation.

Sunday's forecast includes a 45 per cent chance of precipitation.
