Surrey man faces child porn charges after RCMP investigation

A police investigation has resulted in a 41-year-old Surrey man being charged

A Surrey man is facing child pornography offences and luring a child charges following an RCMP investigation. 

Christopher Paterson, 41, was charged Sept. 12 with sexual interference, luring a child and possession of child pornography.

The name and identity of the victim is protected under the Criminal Code by a publication ban.

Back on July 5, police alerted the public that Paterson was released on probation following a custodial sentence with several conditions in April 2022.

More than two years later in June 2024, he allegedly failed to comply with his conditions and he was arrested June 19.

Surrey RCMP’s Special Victim’s Unit has been leading the investigation, which began in April 2024. 

Police encourage citizens to be a voice for children who are victims of sexual exploitation and report any suspected offences to police, or by reporting online any sexual exploitation of children at www.cybertip.ca.
