This is it, Richmond, 2023 is upon us!
While some of us may be snoozing into the new year, here is a list of several celebratory activities (and the prices) for those who want to countdown to the last second:
1. Holiday movie time at Lulu Island Winery
This year's last Pinot & Popcorn nights at Lulu Island Winery are happening this weekend. Frozen will be shown on Friday while Frozen 2 will be shown on Saturday. Tickets are available online and they include a 6 oz glass of wine or a non-alcoholic option and a bag of popcorn. Additional charcuterie boxes and beverages are available for purchase.
Date and time: Dec. 30 and 31, 2022 (3 p.m.)
Place: Lulu Island Winery, 16880 Westminster Hwy
Price: $15 for adults and $5 for children (free for children under five years old)
2. A free midnight toast at the Buck & Ear
The Buck & Ear is offering a complimentary midnight toast, party favours and confetti cannons for Richmondites to ring in the new year.
Date and time: Dec. 31, 2022 at 9 p.m. to Jan. 1, 2023 at 3 a.m.
Place: The Buck & Ear, 12111 Third Ave.
Price: Free
3. Celebrate 2023 with a balloon drop at Trues Club
A big New Year's Eve party is coming to Richmond's Trues Club. Bottles of champagne and other prizes will be given away throughout the night as patrons party to local DJs. A balloon drop will also be happening at midnight to welcome the new year. Each ticket comes with one draw ticket and ordering the special new year's drink or the new year's drink packages will come with more draw tickets.
Date and time: Dec. 31, 2022 at 9:30 p.m. to Jan. 1, 2023 at 3:30 a.m.
Place: TruesClub, 180-8400 Alexandra Rd
Price: $30 for entry, $300 to $900 for drink packages. Table service is available by booking through email.
4. Pizza buffet and a chance to win free wings for a year at the Canadian Brewhouse
The Canadian Brewhouse is offering a pizza buffet with a midnight champagne toast. There will also be a giveaway for a chance to win free wings for a year on New Year's Eve. Those interested can purchase tickets online and then make a reservation by phone at 778-732-0766.

5. Rock into the new year with an interactive stage featuring ABBA covers at River Rock Casino Resort
Vancouver's ABBA cover band, ABRA Cadabra, will be performing a spectacular tribute to ABBA's music at River Rock Casino. The show, described as an "interactive stage extravaganza" will feature ABBA hits such as "Mamma Mia," "Dancing Queen" and "Take a Chance." Tickets can be purchased online.

Price: $67.50 and up
6. New Year's Day skate at the Richmond Olympic Oval
Get the first skate of the year in at the Richmond Olympic Oval on New Year's Day. CSA-approved hockey helmets are mandatory for 12 years and under and helmets and skates are available for rental for an additional fee.
Date and time: Jan. 1, 2023 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
Place: Richmond Olympic Oval, 6111 River Rd
Price: $5 for non-members
