Photos from a few decades ago of Christmas displays at an old shopping centre in Richmond are sparking fond memories among locals.
The snaps, posted on Facebook page “You Grew Up in Richmond BC If You Remember” by Rob Johal, are of displays outside of stores in the old Richmond Square, which is now Richmond Centre.
They are thought to be taken around the mid-1980s and are of a giant model house outside the Yarn Barn, as well as “Christmas Town” and a festive railway village.
One member of the group remembered how visiting the shopping centre in the late ‘70s was “quite an event around Christmas season.”
“Sears electronics and toy department were amongst my favorites,” added the member.
