A new bat exhibit is on display at Richmond Nature Park.

The Richmond Nature Park is bringing in a multi-sensory exhibit to bring the community closer to the world of bats.

Visitors can explore the new, interactive Bats: Out of the Darkness exhibit, open until Aug. 24.

The exhibit is on loan from the Kelowna Museum and showcases the lives of bats with a family-friendly experience.

Visitors can engage with hands-on displays, including a bat taxidermy, audio-visual presentations and interactive stations highlighting bats' crucial roles in controlling insect populations and pollinating plants.

The exhibit also sheds light on the challenges bats face such as habitat loss, disease and common misconceptions, while emphasizing the need for conservation efforts.

Richmond holds the title of the Lower Mainland's first "bat friendly" certified city.

The nature house at the park is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with admission by donation.
