A local elementary school celebrated Lunar New Year in style yesterday.
Students, teachers and staff at A.B. Dixon elementary learned all about the festivities in a school-wide celebration on Jan. 20.
Staff Lily Zhou told The Richmond News that the celebration was one of the biggest to have ever been held in the school district.
Students were dressed up in red festive colours, with some even wearing traditional Chinese oufits, and they got to try Chinese dumplings. Principal Kirsten Wallace also gave out red packets with lucky money.
They were later joined by parents in the school gym, where they enjoyed a lion dance performance and learned more about the tradition in a Q&A session with the performers.
