Poll results: Majority of News readers notice increase in windstorms

Richmond News readers weigh in on the city's changing weather patterns in a recent poll.

More than 46 per cent of people responded to a poll saying windstorms have increased in Richmond lately.

Around 30 per cent said it has always been windy in Richmond while about 23 per cent of respondents said they haven't noticed a difference.

Richmond and many other Metro Vancouver cities saw powerful windstorms following a "bomb cyclone" in October and November that left thousands of BC Hydro customers without power.

The Richmond News polled 527 readers and asked the question: Is it getting windier in Richmond, B.C.?

The poll ran from Nov. 26 to Dec. 12. Of the 527 votes, we can determine that 206 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

Yes, we never had this many windstorms before 47.57% local, 46.11% total

Results are based on an online study of adult Richmond News readers that are located in Vancouver. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 4.26%, 19 times out of 20.
