Richmond's Lingyen Mountain Temple of Canada has donated $10,000 to the Richmond Hospital Foundation to support women's health care.
The funds will be used for new fetal monitors and to support the ongoing effort to obtain an "important tool" for maternal and fetal care.
Fetal monitors are crucial for maintaining the health and safety of both mother and baby during pregnancy, labour and delivery.
Lingyen Mountain Temple held its annual Charity Bazaar on May 4 and raised money to benefit various charities supporting women's health.
“Mothers are the embodiment of strength and harmony, just as the Buddha embodies compassion and wisdom,” said Venerable Master Tze Cheng, the Abbot of Lingyen Mountain Temple (Canada).
“We want to honour all mothers and ensure that those within our community begin their motherhood journey with the best possible care and attention, starting from the very first moments they welcome new life into the world.”
The local temple has been supporting the Richmond Hospital Foundation since 2008.
“We wish to express our gratitude for Lingyen Mountain Temple’s many years of continuous support,” said Spencer Gall, chief philanthropy officer of Richmond Hospital Foundation.
“Their generosity helps address important health care needs in our community and assists the medical team with the equipment required to deliver quality care for everyone.”
