B.C. high school students who are graduating this year can now apply for Richmond-based Herbaland’s community scholarship.
The Herbaland Community Scholarship is awarded to five B.C. students who demonstrate academic performance, leadership and community involvement.
Each student will be awarded $1,000 to help with their higher education for their next school year.
Last year, three students from the Richmond School District were recipients of the scholarship.
Students must submit a 300 to 500-word personal statement on how they share the Richmond business’ core values, and they must submit a reference letter from an organization they have been involved in.
Joshua Hueller, marketing coordinator at Herbaland, said that recipients of the award exemplify Herbaland's core values and also support their community through charitable organizations in a leadership role.
“Our core values of community, inclusivity and sustainability are driving forces in all of our initiatives,” said Hueller.
“We strongly believe that living in a sustainable world means taking care of all life and respecting the natural cycles of water, land and climate.”
Deadline for scholarship applications is May 1. Finalists will be contacted on May 15.
