Rotary clubs of Richmond and South Delta received funding for technology to keep community members connected during remote meetings.

A total of six clubs from the two municipalities received $33,5000 from the Government of Canada to purchase OWL 3 hybrid meeting systems that allow members to host meetings online through a projector and screen while at a meeting venue.

The funding comes from the government’s one-time $400 million post-Covid Community Services Recovery Fund and was announced by the Richmond Community Foundation.

Members of the Rotary clubs can connect with others more “quickly and easily” to work together on community projects.

“This OWL hybrid meeting technology could not have come at a better time, thanks to the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund and the Richmond Community Foundation which provided the funding,” said Peter Roaf, assistant governor of Richmond and Delta rotaries.

“For members who are tied up or travelling or who need more flexibility about when they can meet, we can bring them into our club and committee meetings as we work together on projects for our communities and our world.”

This is one of nearly 5,500 projects the government has funded across the country.
