A piano recital is being held in Richmond to raise funds for Adam Mogg, who was recently rendered a quadriplegic after a car accident.
About two months ago, 20 year-old Richmondite Mogg was rushed to Vancouver General Hospital following a serious car accident and he now faces a long road of rehabilitation ahead.
One of his former schoolmates, Xiaoyu Huang, has stepped up to host the recital at Loewen Piano House, #1-12351 Bridgeport Rd. on Friday, Nov. 29 at 8 p.m.
Professional pianist Huang, who went to Spul'u'kwuks elementary with Mogg, will be the main performer, with the program including two new compositions of Maggie Lu, a UBC composing student, and a composition of Jocelyn Morlock, a prominent B.C. composer.
Huang is a student at Brown University and also vice president of the Pansophy Education Institute in Richmond.
He’s also a professional pianist for Brown, as well as the conductor of the Brown University Chamber Orchestra and has performed at concerts in Canada and the U.S. for seven years.
A ticket costs $15 on Eventbrite or you can email Huang at [email protected] to reserve tickets.
The Richmond News reported last month how friends of Mogg kicked off a crowd-funding page to help him and his family.
To date, the fund had raised more than $41,000 of its $250,000 target.
