The annual Richmond RCMP stuff the cruiser toy drive is returning for its ninth year to kick off the winter holidays next weekend.
Every year, the Richmond RCMP detachment partners with Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives (RCRG), which runs the Christmas Fund program, to collect toys to help underprivileged families celebrate the winter holidays.
The public is encouraged to stop by the toy drive and donate a new, unwrapped toy to stuff the RCMP cruiser or to make a monetary donation of $10 or more to receive a hot bag of mini donuts.
A new Jail and Bail fundraising activity will also be taking place where some local celebrities will need help being freed with the help of a donation to the Christmas Fund.
Last year, the fundraising event helped 2,835 people -- a 22 per cent increase from 2021.
Richmond RCMP and RCRG is expecting the number of families needing help to increase this year due to the cost-of-living crisis.
The toy drive will take place at the Lansdowne Centre west parking lot, next to the sky train station, on Saturday, Nov 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
