Richmond’s Pathways Clubhouse has been given national recognition this week for its transparency and accountability as a charity.
Named one of 100 Canadian Charities That Make a Significant Difference by Charity Intelligence Canada, Pathways Clubhouse says it offers hope, encouragement and opportunities to people living with mental illness.
“We work hard in the community to create opportunities to those living with mental health issues,” said Dave MacDonald, executive director of Pathways.
“We owe a sincere thanks to our dedicated and passionate staff, members and volunteers, as well as our many partners and supporters – donors, employers, landlords, and funders. Together, we are all very proud to provide such a noteworthy result for the community. We are very grateful for this powerful recognition.”
Charity Intelligence’s top 100 list includes charities that “have a need for funding, and are not wasteful when it comes to overhead costs.” The organization, in partnership with Success Markets Inc., has created a metric that measures the impact of each dollar donated.
Pathways was one of 10 organizations in B.C. recognized on the top 100 list. Other B.C. organizations on the list included Aunt Leah’s Place, BC SPCA, Lookout Emergency Aid Society, SFU, United Way, UBC, University of Victoria, Victoria Hospice Society and YMCA of Greater Vancouver.
