If you saw a flash of red and white on a bicycle in Richmond this weekend, your eyes did not deceive you.
Saint Nicholas was spotted cycling on the bike bridge, underneath the Canada Line, and on No. 4 Road in preparation for his big delivery day.
Justin Ruscheinski, a long-time Richmond resident, was the one dressed as Santa and had cycled from Vancouver to Richmond on Saturday late afternoon.
Ruscheinski told the Richmond News that he wanted to bring a bit of Christmas spirit to the community during the holidays.
“I did this just for the adults and kids (since) Santa Claus isn’t at the mall this year,” said Ruscheinski, adding he got a lot of cars honking and waving on his journey to Steveston from the East Van Chop Cycles shop.
“It (was) great to hear the kids saying ‘mommy, daddy, there’s Santa Claus. It got a lot of looks that’s for sure.”
