Spring break is a time to relax for students, but if you're bored of sitting in front of your computer playing the same old game, and you're not really in the mood for movies. Don't panic - RYSA's U-Write Crew has come up with a list of events going on in the city throughout spring break, most at a low cost. Here are just some of the exciting events that may interest you.

NATURE PARK

Got a keen interest in animals or nature in general? The Richmond Nature Park is hosting a variety of exhibits for all ages. You could check out some of our province's invasive species at the Aliens Among Us Traveling Exhibit. If you love reptiles, the Exotic Reptile Show from March 23 to 24 is an event you cannot miss. Entry to both events is free by donation.

GULF OF GEORGIA CANNERY

Spring break is the perfect time for families to explore some of our own historic sites around Richmond! Daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., parents and kids will find lots of fascinating activities to do inside the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site this spring break. Kids can get involved in maritime related crafts or join the popular guided tour which runs every hour. They don't only have the chance to hear tales about B.C.'s fishing heritage, but can also have fun with plenty of hands-on exhibits.

BRIGHOUSE LIBRARY

Do you want to improve your English skills? If so, then this is the perfect opportunity for you! As part of Family Literacy Week, the Richmond Public Library Brighouse Branch has invited trained therapy dogs for the kids to read to. Reading to dogs has been shown to improve reading skills in children because they don't feel judged or pressured.

This event is ideal for ESL students and children from 5 to 12. It will be held on Wednesday March 20, 27 April 3 and 10, from 6: 30 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. at the Kids' Place Program Room. Registration is required. For more information please visit www.yourlibrary.ca.

RICHMOND OVAL

One of the greatest activities that people can do is to join sport camps. Spring is a time where things begin to re-energize after a long, cold winter. Sports will fill you with energy, spirit, strength and fun! This spring break, the Richmond Olympic Oval is open for all sport enthusiasts (aged from four to 18) to develop athletic skills and have fun! These sport camps include activities such as baseball, badminton, table tennis, volleyball and a variety of different choices. To look for details, visit:
