Construction of the playground in Steveston Community Park will start next week.

Upgrades to the Steveston Community Park playground will begin on Monday.

Starting Sept. 23, the playground at No. 1 Road and Moncton Street will be fully fenced off for construction.

A lighthouse tower with two big slides and a double zip line are among the features being added to the community park.

The new designs for the playground incorporates historical and contemporary elements of Steveston Village.

More accessible equipment and surfacing to the area will cater to a wider range of ages and abilities.

While the playground is closed, the water park and surrounding park areas will remain open.

Construction is expected to complete by the end of summer of 2025.
