A thrift store in Steveston is rebranding along with the organization it benefits.

SOS Children's Village Thrift Store at 3800 Moncton St. is changing back to its old name, Treasure Cottage.

In a statement to the Richmond News, a representative explained that the change comes with SOS Children Village's rebrand to SideBySide Children's Village Society.

"We are no longer affiliated with SOS Canada and SOS International Federation," reads the statement.

"SideBySide was chosen as it conveys the spirit of the Village; we have five foster care houses standing side by side.

"We also have staff, volunteers, foster parents, community members and organizations such as MCFD (Ministry of Children and Family Development) all working together side by side in the best interests of the children in our Village."

The thrift store recently received a donation from a group of tap-dancing seniors who gave away more than $100 in tips from their performance outside the store.
