Ever wonder what makes a home climate-friendly?
The City of Richmond is teaming up with local homeowners to host the Climate-Friendly Home Tour next week.
The tour on Saturday, April 26, takes place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., where people will visit a home in Burkeville and in the Blundell neighbourhoods and learn how to make their house more comfortable and save on energy costs.
Each home tour will take about 20 to 30 minutes.
Homeowners will share what they've done to cut down on energy use and reduce carbon emissions to make their homes more eco-friendly.
They will be available to answer any cost and improvement-related questions.
Building and energy-efficient professionals will also be on-site to answer questions on how to design or retrofit homes.
"The goal of the tour is to start friendly, casual and informative conversations based on homeowners' first-hand knowledge and experience with various sustainable features," said the City of Richmond.
Richmond is one of 10 communities in B.C. taking part in this provincewide initiative.
The tour is funded by BC Hydro and administered by the Community Energy Association.
Depending on registration numbers, a free shuttle service may be available to take tour attendees between locations.
Tour attendees are encouraged to register online.
