After launching in June, Richmond’s French-inspired, café-meets-fine-dining restaurant launched a new offering on its menu Friday: afternoon tea.
Origo Club, located on River Road near Gilbert Road, now offers their tea service on Fridays and Saturdays from 1:30 to 4 p.m. for $45 per guest. Complete with house-made scones, cream and jam, the tea menu also includes sweets such as tartelette au citron, gateau roulé, macarons and financiers. Savoury treats such as choux aux champignons and quiche Lorraine are also available.
Tea or coffee will be available, or glasses of Barons de Rothschild Champagne for an extra fee of $35 per person.
Origo Club takes its name from a Beijing Club, and the root word “origin.” The restaurant has a lot to offer in its multi-room space including a day-to-night dining area, a private dining room tucked out of view and an adjacent gallery and event space.
Besides tea, familiar French dishes including shellfish and frites and beef tartare are on the menu, along with contemporary touchstones, like a French-fuelled kale salad. For dessert, classics such as an espresso-tinged creme brulee or a cheese plate are available.
Reservations for the afternoon tea are highly recommended.
