Richmond’s Chinese restaurants once again dominated the annual Chinese Restaurant Awards, taking home prizes in 17 of the 23 categories.
The awards celebrated their 11th year this year, choosing the best of the hundreds of restaurants offering Chinese cuisine in Metro Vancouver.
Honoured were classic favourites like Chef Tony Seafood Restaurant, ones with celebrity fans like HK BBQ Master and newly opened spots like HaiDiLao Hot Pot.
The awards added new categories for three signature dishes this year. Richmond’s iTofu won for having the best tofu pudding, but Vancouver’s Dynasty Seafood Restaurant had the best Cantonese-style crispy chicken and Burnaby’s Chao Shou Wang was picked for its chili oil wontons.
Richmond’s HK BBQ Master, though, was the overall favourite and won in the Most Voted category.
