Children’s entertainer Charlotte Diamond knows she won’t be the headliner at her free Holiday Delight Family Concert this Saturday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. at Lansdowne Centre’s kiosk court.

That honour goes to the one and only Santa Claus.

But, “Lansdowne is celebrating their 40th anniversary, so it will be a special show,” said Diamond, who will perform with her son Matt Diamond.

This year, Diamond is celebrating the honour of being appointed a Member of the Order of Canada by the Governor General, who noted “her contributions as a children’s entertainer who, through song and music, helps to develop creativity and self-expression in youth.”

Since the release of her Juno Award-winning debut album, 10 Carrot Diamond in 1985, Diamond has produced 14 more albums for children and families, with her most recent recording being Diamonds by the Sea.

Diamond may pull out some classic songs such as: Four Hugs a Day, Each of Us Is a Flower and The Hug Bug.

Diamonds by the Sea introduces 19 new Diamond gems, such as: Ottie the Otter, I Have Shoes and I Can Walk, Put the Beat in Your Feet, and Hello, Hola, Bonjour.

Diamond said she will sing several holiday songs as well.

Diamond’s music inspires families to enjoy singing and playing musically with their kids and appeals to all ages. Many songs have environmental themes, such as Sharks Need Their Fins, and promote community, such as Connected.

After the concert, Diamond will autograph her books and CDs and visit with families.

CDs are on sale in Steveston at Beatmerchant Records and Splash Toys, or at CharlotteDiamond.com.
