Kids of all ages are invited to be creative at the annual Richmond Children's Arts Festival on B.C. Family Day.
The festival, organized by the City of Richmond and Richmond Public Library, is returning with many free activities and performances from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 17 at the Richmond Library and Cultural Centre, and Cultural Centre Annex.
This year, highlights include Canadian children's performer Norman Foote, and the Rumpus Room -- a DJ dance party for children and youth -- and Axis Theatre's popular children's play Frog Belly Rat Bone.
Returning favourites include Ginalina, Wild Moccasin Dancers, Chinese Lion Dancers and Jill Raymond, storyteller Debra Sparrow, Oh Clementine! and shadow puppetry by Mind of Snail.
Entry is free, with drop-in access to activities and performances focusing on sustainability, nature and climate change.
Children can also pre-register for scheduled artist-led creativity classes such as papermaking, weaving, pottery, dance and painting.
Visitors are invited to see artist Tarcila Neves' exhibition The Roots of Resilience Collection on display in Richmond Cultural Centre's upper rotunda for Black History Month.
To register for classes and more details, visit the Children's Arts Festival website.
