Drift WoodScapes: Blue Views by Maria Coletsis at Lansdowne Canada Line Station.

New artwork is on display as part of Richmond's No. 3 Art Column Program.

The new art exhibition at Aberdeen and Lansdowne Canada Line stations showcases the work of Richmond artists Maria Coletsis, Ranu Chakraborty and Shirley Vuong on large, backlit display cases at the base of three concrete support columns.

The artwork will be on view until Jan. 31.

Coletsis' photographs at Aberdeen Station imagine vast landscapes emerging from Richmond's driftwood. Her digital photographs highlight the interconnectedness of the natural world and invite viewers to discover hidden images of a much larger landscape.

Meanwhile, Chakraborty's watercolour paintings at Lansdowne Station recollect her memories of the Richmond Cherry Blossom Festival with beautiful pink blooms of the Akebono cherry trees in Garry Point Park.

Vuong's digital illustrations are also at Lansdowne Station and celebrate the abundance and diversity of foods in Richmond. These photos feature fresh seafood, dim sum and fruits and vegetables that can be found at Asian markets and farm stands across the city.

This final exhibition of a two-part, year-long showcase by artists highlights Richmond's local culture, history and natural heritage.

Richmond's No. 3 Road Art Column exhibition runs from Feb. 1 to July 31 featuring other work by Richmond artists.

The city's art column program was launched in 2010 as part of Richmond's commitment to enhance the No. 3 Road streetscape along the pedestrian concourse underneath the Canada Line.

It's hosted in partnership with the Appia Group of Companies and InTransit BC.
