Hundreds of young people gathered at the Olympic Oval last Sunday to put their imagination to paper and raise funds for children living in poverty in other parts of the world.
The 6th Youth World Cup Live Painting Competition was hosted by the Richmond-based "Canada Youth Arts Development Foundation" with support from UNICEF Canada.
The annual competition aims to provide a platform for children and young people aged four to 25 across the world who love painting and who want to raise awareness about children's welfare world-wide.
Hundreds of children painted live at the Oval in accordance with this year's themes: friendship, dreams and environmental protection. The money raised through the event will contribute towards the "School-in-a-Box" programme run by UNICEF Canada.
Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Saturday at the Oval.
Since 2012, the foundation has raised more than $100,000 for the "School-in-a-Box" programme, which has helped children living in poverty in 50 countries to get access to basic education.
