Jeni Chen will be provided with the skills, relationships, and practical experience to take her art to the next level.
Richmond-based artist
Jeni Chen has been selected as one of 10 artists/artist groups for a public art residency program dedicated to supporting emerging Black, Indigenous, and
racialized artists.
CreateSpace Public Art Residency received over 100 applications for the second year of its program. Chen and other successful applicants were selected by a committee of
BIPOC-identifying public artists and professionals across the country.
Chen's art is currently on display throughout the city — from designs on utility boxes by Gilbert and River Roads to the digital mural outside the Capstan station construction site.
Most recently, she
released her first children's book about following your heart and pursuing things you're passionate about. Special signed copies of the book can be found at Village Books & Coffee House in
Steveston.
