A Richmond-based dance school has been practicing for six months for its upcoming show at the end of June at the Michael J. Fox Theatre in Burnaby.
With 90 dancers taking part, the 23 performances will primarily feature Chinese dance, including ethnic and folk dance, classical dance and modern dance.
“The performers are all students and teachers from our dance school. We encourage them to perform on stage, because art is often produced on stage,” said Jun Zhang, the principal of Colours of Dance Academy.
Colours of Dance Academy puts on a show nearly every year.
“This performance is like an annual reporting performance,” Zhang said. “Compared to last year’s show, all the dance pieces are new, and the performers have been practicing for almost half a year.”
The dance academy is working with the Chinese Performing Arts Society of Canada to put on the show.
It will take place on June 29 at 7 p.m. at the Michael J. Fox Theatre, 7373 MacPherson Ave., Burnaby.
