Are you an aspiring actor who can do a Cockney accent? If so, you could be the next lead in Gateway Theatre's upcoming production.
Gateway Theatre is currently casting for its holiday production of Lionel Bart's musical Oliver! and it's searching for a young actor to play Oliver, as well as actors for nine lead roles and members of the young and adult chorus.
The actor for Oliver must be able to sing, dance and act, and play between nine and 13 years of age, according to the casting call.
“The kids play the largest role in this show, which is why we are broadening our audition call. It’s important to Gateway to showcase our incredible local talent, and we are so excited to see who comes out to play,” explained Barbara Tomasic, executive artistic director of Gateway Theatre.
Bringing the streets of Victorian England to life will be director Josh Epstein, choreographer Nicol Spinola and musical director Sean Bayntun.
The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. on May 23 and auditions will be held in June. Selected applicants will have to prepare two contrasting songs and participate in a movement call.
